What Is Intuitive Eating and Can It Help You?
✨A N N O U N C E M E N T! Over the next few weeks, I’ll be talking about each principle of Intuitive Eating (IE). If you’ve been curious about IE, now may be the time to venture down that path to learn more!
WHAT IS INTUITIVE EATING?
▪️ It’s a flexible style of eating where we relearn instincts that we once knew.
▪️ We’re actually born to eat intuitively [think about a baby who has food preferences, who cries when hungry, and loses interest when full], but cultural messages to diet and lose weight infiltrate our minds and sway us away from our natural instincts and our body’s wisdom.
▪️ Intuitive Eating is a practice that helps us restore that innate and instinctual connection between our mind and body.
▪️ There are 10 principles of IE developed by two dietitians: Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM IE?
▪️ People who feel “bad” about their eating
▪️ People who think about food and their body more than they’d like
▪️ People who feel rigid with their eating habits
▪️ People who feel like they don’t know what to eat
▪️ People who are tired of dieting
▪️ People who primarily use food to cope with emotions

WHY SHOULD I LEARN TO EAT INTUITIVELY?
▪️ So your relationship with food can be joyful, flexible and just not that big of a deal. So you can trust your body and not worry about your eating habits. And so you can your spend time and energy on the more important things in life.
